Plumbing Myths, Part Five

It is hard to tell where they originate, but there are a lot of plumbing myths that homeowners seem to cling onto. This will end a series of posts debunking some of the more common plumbing myths.

MYTH: PLUMBING FIXTURES REQUIRE LITTLE TO NO MAINTENANCE

This is not just a myth, it is a dangerous misconception. Your plumbing does require maintenance. But a lot of times, the out-of-sight, out-of-mind concept kicks in and it is completely overlooked. Your interior fixtures, such as sinks, tubs, showers, faucets and garbage disposals, etc. should get regular maintenance. This is something that helps to prevent serious, costly issues down the road.

It’s not just the plumbing inside your home that needs your attention, though. Pipes can be cracked or obstructed by changing conditions around your home—very gradually changing conditions. For example, that tree you planted 5 years ago has now grown and its root system has grown exponentially. Tree roots have caused main pipe issues, and could cause some for you. Other things that could impact your pipes include clogs and obstructions and shifting foundations.

Call JMAC Plumbing and Air Conditioning today to schedule a time to get your plumbing system a check-up.
